Boiler Upgrade Scheme

The Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) is a government initiative in England and Wales designed to support the transition to low-carbon heating systems.

What The Boiler Upgrade Scheme Offers:

  • Grants of £5,000 for a biomass boiler and installation.
  • Grants of £7,500 for air source or ground source heat pumps, including water source heat pumps.

 

  • Installer-led

    The scheme is installer-led, meaning your chosen installer will handle the application process on your behalf.

  • Funding

    The boiler replacement grant amount is deducted from your installation quote upfront, making it easier for homeowners to access the funding.

  • Additional Boiler Scheme Benefits

    From 1 April 2022 to 31 March 2027, installations of energy-saving materials like heat pumps and biomass boilers are eligible for 0% VAT

Government Boiler Scheme Eligibility

  • Available to property owners in England and Wales.
  • Your heating system must be replaced with a low-carbon alternative, such as a heat pump or biomass boiler.
  • The installer must be certified under the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS).

How do you qualify for The Boiler Upgrade Scheme?

To qualify for the Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) in England and Wales, here are the key criteria:

  1. Property Ownership: You must own the property where the installation will take place. This includes homeowners and landlords.
  2. Eligible Heating System: The scheme supports the replacement of fossil fuel heating systems (e.g., oil, gas, or LPG) with low-carbon alternatives like heat pumps or biomass boilers.
  3. Installer Certification: The installation must be carried out by a professional certified under the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS).

To apply for The Boiler Upgrade Scheme, follow these steps:

  • Get in touch

    Give us a call, and we will be able to talk you through the process and put you in touch with one of in-house certified installers.

  • Installer Application

    The installer submits the application on your behalf to the scheme administrator, Ofgem.

  • Consent

    You’ll receive an email from Ofgem to confirm your consent for the grant application.

  • Grant Deduction

    Once approved, the grant amount (£5,000 or £7,500) is deducted from the installation cost upfront.

  • Installation

    The installer completes the installation of your new heating system, ensuring it meets all requirements.
